“Education is the new Currency”
“Our success is not measured by the length of time we spend in our career. It is measured by our ability and our desire to evolve throughout our time doing it. The world will change regardless of our ability, ambition and desire to change with it.”
My name is Joe Serviss. I am a Northerner who fell in love with the South. Now a resident of beautiful North Carolina and serving the community as a Business & Finance teacher at Jay M. Robinson High School. I am married with 3 beautiful children that love to drive me crazy. I am passionate about a lot of things and my opinions are strong and sometimes without filter. I believe strongly in the rights of the people to live their life as they so choose it as long as it doesn’t harm another, or destroy the goodness left in our country, state, or city. I believe in our education system and I believe that we are failing as educators. Our system needs a dramatic makeover and as I keep telling my colleagues; if we want to be #1 then we have to stop acting like #2, 3, 4, 5… and so on. We have to be unique, innovative and we have to begin to see our faults and mistakes. In order to reach a new goal we have to admit there is a problem. I believe in a healthcare system that serves the needs of their community and does so in a way that is affordable for its patients. I believe in a system that treats their patients like they matter. I believe in a system where our doctors and nurses act like and are viewed as professionals. I believe in a world where we can all coexist regardless of our skin color, our religious preference and our sexual preference or choice of lifestyle without it being questioned by those it don’t effect. I believe in the safety and security of our neighborhoods and towns. I believe in respect for authority and being thankful for our law enforcement’s presence. Thankful for putting their lives on the line day in and day our in hopes for a better tomorrow. I believe in a country that can repair its ties with its allies and even its enemies. There is far too much hate in the world and I do believe we all need a little bit of healing. I hope you like what I have to say and continue to support me as I continue on this quest; this journey through my life of which I have no idea where it is headed. I hope that you will stick by my side and enjoy this journey together. We have but one chance to make an impact and it is limited to our own lifetime. Let’s change the future. Let’s change tomorrow. Let our impact be remembered forever.
This blog was developed and re-branded recently to help identify with the content I write better. I believe that education can fix most of the problems in the United States. Issues with racism, issues with government, issues with family values, education, joblessness, homelessness and so much more. I get some people won’t agree with me. I value your opinion. Persuade me, talk to me, let’s learn together. EducationMakesCents!
As part of my never ending fight for financial education I have recently opened up my insurance business in North Carolina. I am motivated by a personal experience that cost me nearly $20,000 out of pocket. My brother at the ripe old age of 35 passed away leaving behind two children and a very broken family over his tragic demise. I take life insurance very seriously but I also want you to have what you need, not what someone wants to feed you based on a commission. Visit my site at www.josephserviss.com for more information and please take note I can only operate in the State of North Carolina. NPN – 11607100
